Hi SBVC Families,
This will be SBVC's 15th season and I would like to fill you all in on some of the latest developments within SBVC and on what we are planning for this upcoming season.
First: We have some leadership changes within SBVC!
New Leadership: I am excited to announce that Summer Vicknair will be taking on the position of "Assistant Club Director" and Sarah Munoz will be taking on the position of "Head Coach/Technical Coaching Director". Please see below for details about the breakdown of their duties. This list is certainly not all inclusive and there will be some overlap of responsibilities.
Summer Vicknair (Assistant Club Director):
- Assisting Maria with SBVC administrative needs
- Responsible for club logistics/planning including internal training (rules/regulations/college recruiting/etc.)
- Planning and facilitating regular coaches meetings and training
Sarah Munoz (Head Coach/Technical Coaching Director):
- Overseeing development and implementation of teaching/coaching techniques and strategies.
- Sarah will be on site on a regular basis for most practice times for all teams so both players and coaches will have regular access to her expertise and guidance. The goal of her position is to ultimately provide consistency and ongoing progression of our player's volleyball skill development by being accessible to both players and coaches on a regular basis.
- Day to day oversight and upkeep of facility and equipment (shared with Summer and Laura)
Continued Leadership: Maria Barkley will continue in the role of overall "Club Director" and Laura Lukens will continue in her position as "Local Teams Coaching Director".
Farewell to Diane:
This season we say farewell to Diane Pascua after 10 years!
During last season, Diane made some life decisions which resulted in her moving to Spokane, Washington and she will not be returning to SBVC this season. She was recently accepted into a master's program for teaching at Gonzaga (Diane's alma mater) in Spokane and was also hired as a 2nd assistant volleyball coach there as well. She is of course very excited about these wonderful opportunities and all of us here at SBVC will miss her and wish her amazing success. Please click on this link for a personal message from Diane. Personally, I am very excited about the new leadership that has emerged from within our club! They are trusted, familiar and competent individuals who understand what SBVC is all about and will not only continue its vision, but will also improve the overall program. Much time and thought was devoted to making this decision so I am confident that this is the best choice for SBVC. Our pre-season meetings have been extremely productive and there is renewed energy, creativity and excitement for the season ahead. Under the direction of Summer, Laura and Sarah, SBVC will continue its commitment of providing a quality club volleyball experience to the young athletes and families that we have the privilege to coach, influence and serve.
If you have questions or need further clarification about any of these changes, please contact me.
Looking forward to a great season!
